Iblis can never be a sincere adviser

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

20.  Then Satan whispered to them that he might manifest unto them that which was hidden from them of their shame, and he said: Your Lord forbade you from this tree only lest ye should become angels or become of the immortals.

21.  And he swore unto them (saying): Lo! I am a sincere adviser unto you-

22a.  Thus did he lead them on with guile.
20.  Fa-was-wasa  lahumash-Shay-taanu  li-yubdi-ya  lahumaa  maa  wuu-riya  ‘an-humaa  min-  saw-‘aatihimaa  wa qaala  maa  nahaa-kumaa  Rabbu-kumaa  ‘an  haazihish  shajarati  ‘illaaa  ‘an-takuunaa  malakayni  ‘aw  takuunaa  minal-khaalidiin.

21.  Wa  qaasama-humaaa  ‘innii  lakumaa  la-minan-naasihiin.

22a.  Fa-dallaa-humaa  bi-guruur.

Commentary

Was-wasa – (put whispers, seduced), it is past tense, origin of which is “waswasatun”, it means; the thing, which is whispered in the heart silently, creating any wrong idea. Such thought, and that individual or thing, which puts any imagination in the heart, is called waswaas.

Yubdi-ya – (to manifest), base of this word is ‘abdaaa’, which has been derived from bad-wunBad-‘u means “to appear”. ‘Abdaaa’ means “to disclose, to display”.
Wuu-riya – (was hidden) – past unknown, its origin is muwaaraah, which is made from war-yunWar-yun means “to be hidden”. Muwaaraah means “to hide from one another”.

Saw-‘aata – (private parts, hidden parts of shame of the human body), it is plural of saw-‘atun, which means “bad thing, the shame, that part of the body of man or woman, which is incumbent to be hidden, and opening of which is a shame”.

Dallaa – (seduced, attracted, inclined), it is past tense, origin of which is dalyatun and it has been derived from dalwun, which means “A metal or leathern bucket used for drawing water from a well”. Here it aims that “Satan inclined Adam (peace be upon Him) toward his object”, seduced him.

When Iblis knew that Adam (peace be upon Him) has been prohibited from a particular tree in the Garden, He considered that: It is the way to harm Adam (peace be upon Him) that somehow they (Adam and Eve – peace be upon Them) should be carried nigh that particular tree.

The Devil planned and produced a doubt in their hearts saying that: Allah has not forbidden this tree for you, but He has prevented you from its use because of any conception, for instance; You would become Angels, if You ate it or You would acquire perpetual life. It is an ancient trick of Satan that He removes the value of God’s Command from the heart of mankind by any plot and says: This order is not urgent, which has been commanded because of any thought. If you feel that; breaking this order is useful for you, you can break it.

Then, this tyrant Iblis swore falsely before the both - Adam and Eve (peace be upon Them) that: I am faithful to you and say without telling a lie. Hearing these words, they both were deceived. They fell into His trick of misleading and accepted. The result was that their Light clothing was disappeared. Those parts of their bodies appeared, seeing of which by any other is worse.
