Commentary
At that time, there were some
such people among the Muslims, who had not faith in the new raising group of
the Muslims. They were unable to understand that how the believers of an
entirely new thing will overcome such ancient and experienced nations like the
Infidels of Makkah, the Jews and the Christians. These people were
the Hypocrites of Madinah, apparently Muslims, and the leader of
whom was AbdUllaah bin Ubayee. He expected always that the Muslims
would have to suffer any trouble very soon.
It has been commanded in this
verse that such people are heart patients. Worthiness of worldly splendor has
excelled them. They do not know the Dignity of Allah Almighty. They do not
respect properly the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and
peace be upon Him) and His Companions (may Allah be pleased with Them)
according to Their stateliness. They are far away from the Belief and say that
it is not sagacity to trust in the Muslims. It is the intelligence that the
Jews should be chosen as supporters for the time of calamity. So they rush by
running into them.
Allah Almighty describes, “It
may happen that Allah will vouchsafe (O Messenger! Unto You) the victory, or a
commandment from His Presence. Then they will repent at their secret thoughts”.
So it happened and the Muslims got victory upon the Jews and the Idolaters,
and Makkah was conquered. Moreover, the Muslims spread over,
not only the Arab but the entire world and the Jews were exiled.
