Wish of coming forth from the Fire
Surah

Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)
‘A-‘uu-zu

(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)
36. And as for those who disbelieve, lo! if all that is
in the earth were theirs, and as much again therewith, to ransom them from
the doom on the Day of Resurrection, it would not be accepted from them. And
theirs will be a painful doom.
37. They will wish to come forth from the Fire, but they
will not come forth from it and theirs will be a lasting doom.

Commentary
Yaf-taduu –
(payment of ransom, to redeem from captivity, to deliver), it is from ‘iftadaa and
has been derived from fidyah. Fidyah is the thing which
is paid to get freedom from the captivity. Therefore, ‘iftadaa means
“to ransom, to pay for freedom from the restraint”.
It has been described that
“if all the things of the earth, the treasuries of the entire world and as
much again therewith have come in the possession of disbelievers, to ransom
them from the doom on the Day of Resurrection, it would not be accepted from
them and they would not be released from the doom and these all things would be
thrown upon their face (returned worthlessly). And they will suffer such a
doom, which will be very painful and they will cry out due to pain.
They will desire very much to
come forth from that Fire of Hell somehow, in which they will cause to enter,
but it will not be in their luck to come forth from It and they would have to
settle with the painful doom forever. That doom will never let them alone.
It signifies that the bribe is
useless before Allah Almighty. If you wish to be saved from the doom
and His outrage, then you should fear and believe in Him, and try to please
Him. Otherwise, there is no space, running out from Him. By giving a bribe, you
can accomplish your desires in this world, but there is nothing useful
before Allah Almighty except His obedience and worship.
