Commentary
We recited in the previous verse that respectable courtiers
of Pharaoh counseled him that Moses (peace be upon Him) has shown a strange and
unusual event of enchantment. There is a fear that He (peace be upon Him) will
be able to attract the masses very soon. And then, it will become difficult for
us to live here. It is better that His (peace be upon Him) competition should
be arranged with the wizards and He should be defeated in common gathering.
It is
commanded that the people brought the old expert wizards together from
everywhere. As soon as they reached, they said to Pharaoh at first: We shall
win with your good fortune. Kindly confirm a tip and our labor compensation
even now, which should be given to us after success, so that our hearts may be
encouraged and we should try our best to succeed.
Pharaoh
said: Yes, surely you shall be granted with heavy compensation and reward along
with it; that you shall be of those brought specially near to me and selected
individuals. The wizards were happy, turned unto Moses (peace be upon Him) and
said: Do you show first your jugglery or we should show?
Human
being does not hear any other before his talk. He says: Why should I accept
unnecessarily any other as superior to me while I have everything? This
stubbornness is found in those people, who get accumulated with a lot of things
of every kind and manpower strength, and the people of lower class and the poor
begin to consider them a source of their respect by standing before them with
folded hands. At that time, as it might be possible, these rich people begin to
determine for establishing their power of influence forever. And they try to
defeat the opponent of their dignity and majesty as it could be.
In the story of Pharaoh and his
chieftains, an utter lesson exists for such people. A time comes when any such
power appears with the command of Allah Almighty, which is more powerful than
their wealth, equipage and Army, and due to which their entire game is over.
Truly: The fox knows much but more knows the one who catches him.
