Quran Chapter 6 – 1 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-769) - درس قرآن

Appointment of darkness and light

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَجَعَلَ ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ وَٱلنُّورَ ثُمَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ يَعْدِلُونَ 1

1.  Praise be to Allah, Who hath created the heavens and the earth, and hath appointed darkness and light. Yet those who disbelieve ascribe rivals unto their Lord.
1.  ‘Alhamdu  LIllaahillazii  khala-qas-Samaawaati  wal-‘arza  wa  ja-‘alaz-zulumaati  wan-Nuur.  Summal-laziina  kafaruu  bi-Rabbihim  ya’-diluun.

Commentary

‘As-Samaawaat – (the skies, the heavens), it is plural of Samaaa’. The thing, which is above from our head, is called Samaaa’, and since there are many things above from our heads, which are visible, when we see up, so, the plural tense has been used for all.

‘Az-zulumaat – it is plural of zulmat, which means ‘the darkness’ – either darkness of the night or day or both.

‘An-Nuur – (the light), it aims ‘the day time’. Those all things have been included in the darkness and the light besides the night and the day, which are opposite to each other, for example: Bad and good, ignorance and knowledge, depravity and guidance etc.

Ya’-diluun – it is from ‘Adal‘Adal means equality and rivalry, to assimilate or settle two things mutually themselves.

That actual matter has been described excellently in this verse, which Islam desires to teach the human being. That is to say; the Creator of the entire world and its all things, is only One, Allah Almighty, because He is the Person, Who has complete Divine Power, all the virtues and excellence. Other than Him, you can observe and find one or the other fault even anyone else, and that will be needy of any other for existence.

It is commanded that the heavens and the earth were created by Allah Almighty. Those entire creatures have come in these both things, which are found among them i.e. He is the Creator of all those creatures also. After that, He appointed some of those things good and useful, and some harmful and bad. As though, He desires to cause the mankind to understand that all the things including mankind are equal in terms of birth. Nothing is wrong with them.

Then, after that, Allah Almighty appointed some things/creatures good and useful for the other some creatures; and some things harmful and bad for the some other people/creatures and vice versa. The fire-worshippers have also been abrogated as well as the idolaters from it because the good and the bad have no interference/ connection in the birth.

After that, it has been described that the entire world is witness that there is none its Creator except Allah Almighty. Even then the disbelievers ascribe other things as partners and rivals of Allah Almighty.
