Surah
MAAA-‘IDAH (The
Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)
‘A-‘uu-zu
Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)
65. If only the People of the Scripture would believe
and ward off (evil), surely We should remit their sins from them and surely
We should bring them into Gardens of Delight.
66. If they had observed the Torah and the Gospel and
that which was revealed unto them from their Lord, they would surely have
been nourished from above them and from beneath their feet. Among them there
are people who are moderate. But many of them are of evil conduct.

Commentary
From the very earlier, mention
of those people is under discussion, who opposed Islam in the beginning. At
first, Arabian tribes of Makkah were against Islam who were
idolaters openly. After that, when the Jews and the Christians knew, they began
to support the idolaters of Makkah also to suppress Islam.
This support was very useful for the idolaters, and the Muslims had to face
many difficulties due to them.
It is known by meditating in
that, which the history of those days produces, that there was no any main
reason of opposing Islam except that the people had forgotten thinking about
the advantages and comforts of others but for their own worldly gains and ease.
Everyone desired to keep entire wealth and power of the world in his own depot.
On the contrary, Islam wished to teach that worldly wealth, power and property
is useful for the entire human beings. None is owner of anything but Allah
Almighty and the entire humankind are His servants, so nobody can deprive of
others by taking entire things in one’s own possession. The person, who will
try to do so, is enemy of Allah Almighty.
